We know that it can be tough traveling to a new place. We hope you find answers to some of the questions you have (and didn't know you had!) here.
What time is check in and check out?
Can we check in early or leave late?
Check in time is 2:00pm and check out is 10:00am.
We offer early check in and late check out, each for a $20 fee. Both are at noon
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans change and that emergencies happen. We ask that you let us know as soon as you can if you're not going to be joining us. From May-October, we charge a $50 fee for cancellations.
What about the ferry? Do I need a reservation as a walk on passenger? Where do I park? Can I bring my vehicle?
Reservations for walk on passengers are not accepted. You can purchase tickets online here or purchase them at the ferry terminal when you arrive in Rockland. NO ONE WAY TICKETS ARE SOLD. Make sure you keep your ticket for your return passage.

The ferry terminal in Rockland has a paid parking lot for $10/24 hours. Occasionally this lot fills up. You just need to wait for a ferry to come in and can take the spot of one of the folks departing.

Are there any rental bicycles available on the island?
No, there are no bike rentals on Vinalhaven. You may rent bikes from Maine Sport in Rockland and walk them onto the ferry. Please be aware that roads are narrow and there are lots of large trucks on them. This is a working island. If you do opt to bring bikes, please cycle with care.
